Scott Joplin is the man who has made piano very useful to those who desire to learn ragtime piano. His expertise in the field and experience in helping people know how to play and master ragtime piano is something we should respect him for. I must confess that until recently I was among the people who never knew the piano would be applicable even outside the church setting.

In the past when I heard of the invitations to learn and master piano I would say that such announcements would be best made in the church where they would make sense and would readily attract response. When I caught site of names like David Bennett Cohen, I realized I had truly misunderstood the concept of piano. 

I remember wondering whether the name piano in the invitation come learn how to play blues on piano has a different meaning from what I knew it meant. When I confirmed I was wrong from the contents in the piano lessons, I changed my thinking. I am now glad that I have all that relevant information and that is why I can now confess my ignorance.
