Data Loss Nightmare without HP Storage
Computers and Hardware August 26th, 2010My first foray in the world of video editing taught me a very valuable lesson in dealing with computers. I found out that despite being able to do all these incredible tasks at breakneck speeds, they are prone to errors that are really costly to rectify, which in my case almost got me sued for not delivering my work on time.
Although I’ve been using the computer for quite some time and is familiar with its inherent faults, I still got stung when I’ve foregone using HP Storage for all my early work in the video editing business. My system crashed just as I was about to wrap up the project I was working on and I had no back up! I did have a copy but it was stored in the same hard drive that crashed. Good thing I was able to buy extra time from my client who almost fainted when I told her what happened.
From then on I’ve learned my lesson and bought a used HP SAN online and stored a back up of all my files. It proved a worthy investment when I began to hire other video editors and we had to share files regularly.
